I am presently working as Professor with a teaching experience of 28 years. Besides working as head department of Geography for 10 years, i have also served as Dean, School of Earth & Environmental Sciences for a period of three years. I have contributed towards the academic development of the university in capacity of a member of all the statutory bodies like University Council, University Academic Council, University, Syndicate , Finance Committee & University building committee . I have been involved in the teaching and research activities during the last twenty eight years. I have authored more than eighty research papers in the national and internationally acclaimed peer reviewed journals. Some of my research works have been utilized for policy formulation by the various concerned institutions/agencies and departments. I have pursued and guided research in Urban geography, Watershed Development, Climate Change and Environmental studies. About 18 (eighteen) M. Phil students and 13 (thirteen) Ph. D. scholars under my supervision have been successfully awarded their research degrees. I am a NABET accredited functional area expert (FAE) in Socio – Economic consultant and has been associated with EIA & EMP and SIA & SMP of a number of hydroelectric projects, roadways, industrial complexes, and tourism township developments of Jammu & Kashmir state and has also completed a number of research projects 17 sponsored by ICSSR, UGC , Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India and DST . I am currently working on a research project under CPEPA programme of UGC, MHRD Govt. of India. Aavailed Baden Wurttemberg Visiting Professor Fellowship at South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University Germany and have been also selected for the Leadership for Academician Programme (LEAP) by the UGC in March, 2019.
