       With 35 years of teaching, research, and administrative experience, I am Professor of Geography and Disaster Management at University of Kashmir. I have been Head, Department of Geography and Disaster Management at the University for 10 years, and I have also served as Dean, School of Earth & Environmental Sciences for a period of three years. I have contributed towards the academic development of the university in the capacity of a member of all the statutory bodies like University Council, University Academic Council, University Syndicate, Finance Committee & University Building Committee. I have authored more than 100 research papers in the national and internationally acclaimed peer-reviewed journals, and some of my research works have been utilised for policy formulation by the various institutions and departments of the Government of India. I have pursued research and teaching in diverse domains, including Climate Change, Hydrology, Disaster Risk Reduction, Watershed Management, Urban Environment, Land Use Dynamics, and Development Planning. About 19 PhD and 17 MPhil scholars have worked under my supervision and have been successfully awarded their research degrees. I am a NABET-accredited Functional Area Expert (FAE) and have conducted a number of EIA & EMP and SIA & SMP for various hydroelectric projects, roadways, industrial complexes, and tourism township developments of northern India. I have completed 25 major research projects with lead roles [Principal Investigator and Co- Co-Principal Investigator], supported by premier agencies of the Government of India, including Department of Science & Technology (DST), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), University Grants Commission (UGC), and Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). I have received various international fellowships, including the Baden Wurttemberg Visiting Professor Fellowship, Heidelberg University, Germany and have also been selected for the Leadership for Academician Programme (LEAP) by the UGC in March 2019. At present, I am Dean of Research at University of Kashmir.
